British broadcaster Piers Morgan has taken to social media to criticize American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel following Kimmel’s remarks about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
During a recent monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel addressed the political response to the tragedy, suggesting that some conservatives were attempting to shift blame or politicize the event.
“The MAGA Gang is desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said.
He added:“Many in MAGA-land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk.”
The comments sparked a strong reaction from Piers Morgan, who accused Kimmel of spreading misinformation.
“Jimmy Kimmel lied about Charlie Kirk’s assassin being MAGA,” Morgan wrote on social media, calling into question Kimmel’s characterization of the incident.
At the time of writing, ABC has not issued a formal statement regarding Kimmel’s comments, but there has been speculation online about whether the network might take further action.
