New York City  A festive Sunday evening in Manhattan was overshadowed by violence when two separate but nearly simultaneous attacks left a teenage girl and a young man injured. The incidents occurred just blocks apart in East Harlem, near the city’s Mexican Day Parade celebrations.

Teen Girl Hit by Stray Bullet

According to the NYPD, a 17-year-old girl was struck by a stray bullet shortly after 6:30 p.m. while walking in the neighborhood. Authorities confirmed she was not the intended target of the shooting.Witnesses described a chaotic scene as parade crowds scattered when gunfire erupted. The teenager collapsed and was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital. Police later confirmed she remains in stable condition.

Young Man Stabbed Minutes Later

Only minutes after the shooting, a 24-year-old man was stabbed in a separate altercation just around the corner. Officials say the incident was unrelated to the shooting. The victim was transported to the hospital and is also listed in stable condition.

Investigation 

Police have identified a person of interest in connection with the shooting but have not confirmed any arrests in either case. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to establish the sequence of events.
